Stainer’s Crucifixion 2025

‘The Crucifixion’ by Sir John Stainer (1840 – 1901) is a beautiful composition for choir, two soloists and organ accompaniment. ‘The Crucifixion’ includes five hymns for congregational or audience participation; these rank amongst the finest of their genre.

Our aim is to raise as many funds as possible for the vital and increasingly urgent support for families in Ukraine via UNICEF and Fylde Foodbank (which is also actively supporting Ukrainian refugees locally), by involving as many people as we can to sing this wonderful work. We also warmly invite everybody who might not wish to participate, to hear our performance in Church on Sunday 6th April 2025 at 7.00 pm. The performance will be directed by Alistair MacKenzie, with support from Dr Kevin Morgan (Organ), Alistair Armit (Tenor) and Michael Howarth (Baritone). Choristers are asked to donate £10, members of the audience £5.

If you wish to sing in this performance, please confirm your attendance by sending an email to: crucifixion.aid@gmail.com, or telephone: 07922 826 571. Please confirm whether or not you require a vocal score, and we will do our best to provide one. Please also inform us of the voice part you sing e.g. soprano, alto, tenor or bass.

If you wish to be a member of the audience please just come along on Sunday 6th April for a 7.00 pm start.
Refreshments will be available following the performance.

In view of the very recent developments it is even more urgent that we provide all the support we can for Ukraine, their people and families. Please, please, please come and sing on Sunday April 6th and encourage as many singers as you can to participate. If you are not able to sing in the afternoon, please, please, please join us in the evening and, additionally, please bring huge numbers of audience members with you. As we know, these circumstances have never been this dire.
